We've been in church ministry our whole marriage and have had to shift a lot of our perspectives and hearts on things-especially since BOTH of our girls were diagnosed on the autism spectrum.
We've learned a lot about grace, patience and hope on this journey and hope to help other families do the same!
Opal is an ornery, kind, and silly 6 year old! She was diagnosed with autism three years ago, and she has taught us so many lessons since.
God's love, real grace, true kindness. She is truly her namesake- a GEM!
She is THE actual, real life Cinderella. In every way.

And even though she's nonspeaking, she can understand everything you say- and she will use that to her advantage!
There's not a chip or cookie she doesn't like.
Lucy is our youngest and since we knew how to look for autism signs, she was diagnosed at 2 years old! Autistic, just like sissy!

Her verbal language has sky rocketed since she started speech therapy two years ago, and she loves singing to Taylor Swift, JJ (iykyk), and Air1 radio.
Even though she can be a bit shy at first, once she's come out of her shell, she is the funniest, silliest, friendliest girl you'll ever meet!
She's always down for a good dance session, a good cuddle and a movie night!
I started sharing our story because when our oldest daughter was diagnosed with autism, I felt blindsided, like no one had ever told me what autism was. I didn't want anyone else to ever feel the same.
Sharing our story has turned into a beautiful journey of educating, advocating and relating with other autism moms and families with similar stories.
Our family motto and one that we have held onto through our journey is, "Rain doesn't last forever. There's always rainbows after rain."
We are here to remind families like ours that yes, there are many hard days and hard moments. BUT, there is so much hope and so much good that comes from an autism diagnosis- or a disability diagnosis of any kind.
If you're in the rain right now, we're not just going to tell you that one day it will stop. We'll hand you an umbrella.
